Apply for a 2021 RANZCR ASM Grant

The RANZCR Annual Scientific Meeting in Melbourne is an exciting opportunity to learn about radiology, radiation oncology and connect with leading industry experts.

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) is committed to supporting the professions of clinical radiology and radiation oncology to contribute to equitable health outcomes for Māori, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders. Increasing the number of medical practitioners from these communities is central to our commitment.

In 2021, we are excited to announce the RANZCR ASM Grants available to Indigenous junior medical doctors or medical students to attend our 2021 RANZCR ASM in person or virtually. The Grants support and encourage opportunities for junior doctors and medical students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander or Māori to extend their knowledge and interest in our profession.

Who can apply?

Current junior doctors and medical students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander or Māori.

What does the grant include?

The RANZCR ASM Grant includes $3,500(AU) for successful applicants to contribute to their costs to attend the 2021 RANZCR ASM in Melbourne. The Grant covers full registration, travel, and accommodation expenses. This is a hybrid event and delegates can choose to attend in person or virtually.

Grant Timings

Eligible applicants must submit their RANZCR ASM Grants application via the online form by 5 pm on 6 August 2021 Australian Eastern Seaboard time. (AEST).

RANZCR will review submissions to ensure eligibility and evaluate applications. Successful grant applicants will be announced via email, website, social media, and media release on 16 August 2021.

Covid-19 Specific Frequently Asked Questions

I am registered as an in-person delegate and the area I am in goes into lockdown due to government restrictions around COVID?

If your area is in lockdown (based on registered address) and you are not permitted to leave due to restrictions around COVID 19, providing the event is proceeding in person, your registration will be converted to a virtual registration.

Please note if you are no longer wanting to travel to the event and there are no restrictions in place to prevent you from travelling, your in-person registration can be converted to a virtual registration. As an alternative to cancellation, your registration may be transferred to another person who meets the criteria above without penalty.

As an alternative to cancellation, your registration, and additional items, such as workshops and social events may be transferred to another delegate without penalty.

*no refunds will be provided for any cancelled accommodation, airfares or other related expenses for your travel to the event, we suggest you book flexible travel and accommodation options.

What happens if the in-person event is unable to proceed due to government restrictions around COVID?

As the 2021 ASM will be a hybrid event, we can pivot the event to a complete virtual conference. Should such a scenario be required, the ASM will be delivered within one month of the published dates. This is due to the requirement to liaise with all in person presenters and schedule rehearsals to ensure that the virtual ASM experience is professional and seamless.

What if I am exposed to COVID-19 and placed in quarantine?

The safety of our delegates is of the utmost importance, therefore if you have been potentially exposed to COVID-19 and placed in quarantine, your registration will be converted to a virtual registration.

I have flu like symptoms, what should I do?

If you have flu/COVID like symptoms, please get tested and do not attend the event. Your registration will be converted to a virtual/on demand attendee. This policy will only come into effect 3 days or less prior to the event.
